How Do I Own

PURCHASING ASBOAT DIESEL DUCK

We build our Asboat Diesel Duck yachts here in Izmir, Turkey, after they've been sold. Unlike dealers and brokers, we don't keep boats in stock.  We sell all our yachts factory-direct. The fact that no middlemen are involved means savings to you, our customers. It also means that there is no "margin" in our pricing to offer discounts. We endeavor to make buying as easy as possible, but you may find the process different than it was for boats you have purchased in the past. We urge you to take advantage of our current pricing, and, because these boats can take anywhere from 8 to 12 months to build, we urge you to reserve your slot in the production schedule now.

THE RESERVATION FEE:

Once you have decided that an Asboat Diesel Duck will be your next boat and that you may be ready to begin building her during the next calendar year, we urge you to take the first step by putting down a fully-refundable $5,000 reservation fee. This holds your spot in the upcoming production schedule and ensures today's pricing for your boat. Unlike other builders, our limited production schedule allows a degree of customization to fit your taste and meet your specific needs. For the next 60 days, we will work with you on options and outfitting your Diesel Duck; this seems to be enough time to go over the details with each buyer and work through our standard list of options. You may want to visit the factory during this 60 day period. We will apply the fee toward your first payment, due when the contract is signed.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE:

Payments are spread over the duration of the boat's construction and due at easily defined and identifiable progress points. There are 4 payments due during the construction phase;

% 40 of the total price within signing the contract,

% 30 of the total price after completion of steel construction,

% 20 of the total price after completion of machinery, plumbing, wiring and equipment’s installation,

% 10 after sea trial.

GETTING ASBOAT DIESEL DUCK HOME

Next to making the decision to buy an Asboat Diesel Duck, the most important decision you will have to face is how do you get your new boat home. There are many options, and depending on your situation, each one has its advantages.

SAILING HOME YOURSELF:

All Asboat Diesel Ducks are CE Certified Ocean Class A boats. As such, a standard equipped Asboat Diesel Duck is capable of making safe ocean passages. The favored route starts in the beautiful  turquoise waters of the eastern Mediterranean. On your own time schedule you cruise west through the Mediterranean reaching Gibraltar  in late summer or early fall. From there it's mostly a downwind  ocean passage to the Canary Islands. In late November you would join the annual migration of European and North American boats for the trade wind passage to the Caribbean. You then have the winter season to explore the wonderful Caribbean before heading home in the spring.

SHIPPING HER HOME:

Here there are many options.  Asboat can arrange to have your new boat shipped to you. Your new boat can be securely cradled on the deck of a cargo freighter to most port cities in America. Some of our buyers have cruised the Greek and Turkish Islands on their new boat before shipping it home. If time permits, this is a wonderful option to consider and Asboat can help you make the necessary arrangements. Another shipping option that is becoming more popular each year is Dockwise Yacht Transport. This American based company operates from several  Mediterranean ports and will bring your new Asboat Diesel Duck home in a specially designed yacht transport vessel. And of course, you still have the option of exploring the Mediterranean before bringing your new boat home.

WHAT'S THE BEST CHOICE

We at Asboat Yacht feel that If you have the necessary experience, and have enough time, taking your new boat home on her own bottom is  the preferred way. Our boats are designed and constructed to cross oceans and many of our  customers have told us that is the reason they selected Asboat Yachts to build their new boat. Many of our buyers  hold a life long dream of crossing an ocean in their own boat. If  you have confidence in your abilities, there is no reason you cannot  safely bring your new boat home. If your open ocean sailing experience is limited, you can have more experienced crew join you  for this portion of the trip.

If you do not have the time, shipping your new boat becomes the obvious choice. But here to, the options are many. You can have Asboat Yachts ship your new boat home, or, you could take delivery in  Turkey and cruise the Greek and Turkish Islands before shipping her  home. You could spend whatever time you have in the Mediterranean before meeting the Dockwise Yacht Transport vessel at one of their many ports-of-call. You can even arrange to leave your new boat at  any one of the many fully equipped and secure marinas in the Mediterranean while splitting the your time between home and the  boat. The possibilities are many and Asboat Yachts can help you make  the right choice.
